Updated prayer request

Thank you all for your prayers. Maggie's temp has remained around 99 degrees today. Hopefully it'll remain there and not go up. Maggie has yet to regain her appetite. She has refused most solid foods today, including ice cream (one that is rarely refused). She has not been nursing much at all either. Whenever items of food are put in front of her she will gag.

This evening, Maggie finally caved in and nursed. She awoke from nursing and ended up throwing up all of her milk. After throwing up, she began jabbering and acting like her old self. So thankfully, after the moment, it doesn't appear to be affecting her.

I worry that Maggie isn't getting enough liquids and will end up dehydrating. She appears to be quite nauseous. Whether this is from chemo or from a virus, we don't know. We plan on calling the clinic tomorrow to see what they think. We have given her 2 doses of Zofran today (a nausea medicine), however it doesn't appear to be doing the trick.

Please pray for Maggie that her nausea and whatever might be causing it will go away. We were so happy last week to see our little girl eating food and being adventurous by trying new foods. Now she is back to her old self--sealed lips.

It is so hard to see her feeling this way. We feel so helpless. It angers me that a little child has to go through something like this. We are so tired of watching our child suffer. Please continue to pray for our little girl.

My continued prayers for baby Maggie!!! And also for you, Whitney and Andy too! I will continue to pray that Maggie will soon get her appetite back and be able to keep her food down. I also pray for her temperature to fall to normal and for Maggie to return to herself. God Bless All Of You! Love, Tina

I hope that Maggie starts eating better again soon. I know how hard it isto sit by helplessly and watch them be miserable. I wonder if it is avaccine reaction if she was vaccinated the same day, but then again stomach viruses are rampant this time of year. I hope that whatever it is, it is very temporary and nothing serious. Benedryl sometimes helped Katie-Belle's nausea when zofran alone did not work and may be beneficial if there is any vaccine reaction as part of the problem. As always check with your doctor before following through on my experiential advice.

Praying for you all! I have often felt that same anger when Karrie went through her treatment. But now that she is well, the anger emerges when other little ones and their families suffer. Then and now I rely on God's Word to remind myself that we live in a fallen world and GOD IS IN CONTROL AND WILL BRING US THROUGH THIS DIFFICULT JOURNEY.

All things work for the good of those who love HIM and are called according to HIS purpose.

I find it encouraging that despite her temperature and nausea, her behavior much of the time is "normal--talking like crazy and playing." And I know you worry she's not getting enough food and liquids, but if this doesn't last too long, maybe she knows what she's doing when she has "sealed lips."

You are daily in my thoughts and prayers.

Your blog is timely. My husband is fighting a long stomach bug (since Tuesday and still can't eat anything much). He's kind of living on ginger ale and crackers with some anti-nausea medicine.

Ginger naturally helps nausea, so would Maggie drink something like flat, cold ginger ale? and eat something dry like crackers or cheerios?

Maybe treat this like your mothers treated you all when you had bugs? The familiarity might even be somewhat comforting to you; I know it helped me to do familiar things when we were new parents.

Of course, praying as always.
