Cat and Mouse

We got through the night okay. At about 9:30 this morning, a little drama began. Her oxygen numbers began to drop a bit, so they've been fiddling with the settings and suctioning her. They took her off of her paralytic medicine this morning because they want her to start a)coughing to start bringing mucous up from the lower part of her lungs, and b) if she moves a little bit it will help her pass some of the fluid that she's retaining in her chest. The doctor today called it a very critical "cat and mouse" game. They need to allow her to bring up these mucous secretions, but doing so will make it harder for her to breathe in the short term.

They just did an IPV treatment which essentially sends air into her lungs at a high rate with hopes that it will break through some of her secretions, bring them up so they can suction it out, and allow different parts of the lung to regain function.

We were relieved with the way last night went, but we are still a long, long, way from being done with all of this. We hope that Maggie's miracle continues and allows her to get through the day so that we can fight some more tomorrow.

Praying for all of you and especially for Maggie. Praying that this treatment will be succesful so that more of her lungs will clear and function properly. Maggie is a good fighter. Praying for strength for Maggie to keep up the fight and whip this rotten infection. It was good to get up this morning and see last night's late report that she stabilized. It was the very first thing I did this AM and a great way to start the day. You go, girl!

I keep your blog up and runing in the background all day at work and your family picture on my screen saver. So, you are never far from my thoughts and prayers. Carol in Lakeland

Whitney and Andy,
I have just caught up with your blog and Maggies's condition and I can only offer you my deepest, heartfelt commitment to prayer for all of you. I pray for Maggie's lungs to heal and for her infection to be dimished. I pray for all the medical staff that is giving her their fullest attention that they treat her with love and compassion. I pray for both of you, that you remain united in your love for Maggie as you face this most difficult battle. I pray for God to hold both of you and Maggie in his arms tonight and renew your strength.
Miss Maggie, hang tough little one. There are tricycles to ride and popsicles to trickle down your face, and leaves to jump in next Fall. Rest, sweet baby, and keep fighting!

Everyday I start and end by reading your blog and hearing about Maggie. This means I start and end each day in prayer for her and both of you Andy and Whitney.
My heart has filled for love for all of you. Sometimes we think Miracles are suppose to happen over night and they will be complete . I have prayed for just that . Like pick up your baby pack up your things go home and live a happy life starting now. No more lung issues and No more cancer. I know my God can do this.Yet we need to give thanks for what he does give. She is hanging on and and for that I give thanks. It doesn't always happen how we want it to. We will trust in his all knowing ways and continue to pray for his comfort and strength. Love you all. Lori Shevlin
